Has Ubuntu gained "the" momentum?
A whole time ago I switched from IE to Firefox. I don’t know exactly when it happened but somehow it did and nowadays I almost never click that little blue E.
Still, in the “real” world the marketshare of Firefox is still only 15%. And maybe it has reached it’s highest peak for now. The reason for this is that many regular users not even know what a webbrowser actually is. Many of them think it is a synonym for “internet”. Just as many of them think Hotmail or Outlook Express is a synonym for e-mail.
They don’t know and they don’t care. And to be honest, I don’t care either.
Could this change when they would use another Operating System in which another browser is “default”?
I just wondered if Ubuntu is now near the moment that this “peak” is going to take place for Linux distributions and that it is going to leave all other distributions way behind? And by that I mean that a part of regular consumers are going to decide to install Ubuntu on their machines instead of Windows?
