Dude, A Little Diplomacy with that Dell
Seems like we're riding a 'Linux wave'. The Linux wave is what I call a period where, for whatever reason, interest in Linux seems to spike sharply. Since I've been here at Linux.org, I have seen a few of them.
This latest upturn is being fueled, I suspect, by two major events in the IT world. One is the decision by Dell, the most famous PC reseller, to begin offering Linux on their retail computers in the near future. The other is the lukewarm reception that Windows Vista is having in the marketplace. Apparently, the public has finally realized what some of us have known all along - that despite billions of dollars in R&D, the boys in Redmond still can't produce a good operating system.
So, with Dell finally committing to Linux and Vista an unappealing choice, there's an interest in migration - and another Linux wave.
