Mixing Politics and Linux: So Uncool
Linux has developed quite a reputation since its creation. While the world was using Windows and a select few were using the Mac OS, this new operating system comes into the picture in a sly take it or leave it fashion. It wasn’t for everyone.
Today, Linux has become more widespread and accessible, but with that said, it still sort of feels like an exclusive group. Well, starting immediately, any correlation of Linux and the underground has officially been called off due to the French.
A news report has made it known that starting in June 2007, members of the French parliament and their assistants will be using Ubuntu instead of Windows.
In my mind, you can either view this as a victory for Linux or a disappointing setback. Part of me likes the fact that Linux is being recognized and used by actual groups of people, but then again, another part of me thinks it should stay where it’s at and not venture into the sellout territory.
