Firefly’s RK3399-based mini-PC can boot Ubuntu, Android, and media-savvy Station OS

Firefly’s “Station P1 Geek Mini PC” runs Ubuntu, Android, or an Android-based Station OS on an RK3399 and supports dual 4K displays. The price is $129 with 4GB LPDDR4 and 32GB eMMC or $179 with 4GB and 128GB.

Since we covered Firefly’s Rockchip RK1808 based Core-1808-JD4 AI Core Board module and AIO-1808-JD4 dev kit in April, the company has launched a $129 and up Station P1 Geek Mini PC based on the Rockchip RK3399. Firefly, the community-backed SBC and compute module brand of T-Chip Technology, helped popularize the hexa-core Arm SoC with products such as its Firefly-RK3399, the world’s first RK3399 SBC.

    The Station P1 Geek Mini PC is a compact computer with a 6-core, 64-bit ARM processor, 4GB of RAM, support for 4K video playback, a fanless design, and an aluminum alloy case. The system is designed to support Ubuntu or Android operating systems, as well as the Android-based Phoenix OS.

    It’s made by Firefly, a company that crowdfunded a single-board computer with the same processor back in 2016. But this version has more memory and storage. It comes with a case (the original board did not). And it has a lower starting price.

    Firefly’s $399 and up “Face X2” is a facial recognition device that runs Ubuntu or Android on an RK3399. The X2 has an 8-inch screen, binocular vision, IR thermometry, and card readers. Its Face-RK3399 mainboard sells for $129 on its own.

    T-Chip Technology’s Firefly unit has launched a smartphone-like facial recognition device called the Face X2 that also offers a variety of card readers and sensors. Like Firefly’s recent Station P1 Geek Mini PC, it runs Ubuntu Linux or Android on Rockchip’s hexa-core Cortex-A72 and -A53 RK3399 SoC.

Understanding Copyleft

The concept of copyleft means making a software program or other work free to use and additionally requiring all modified and extended versions of that program to be free as well. Arcade shooter with a massive skill tree 'BYTEPATH' goes open source

A few years after release, adnzzzzZ has released the source code for their crazy skill-tree arcade shooter BYTEPATH. "Expect BYTEPATH to be a mix of Bit Blaster XL and Path of Exile, created with the intention of expanding Bit Blaster XL's relaxing and addictive gameplay with Path of Exile's build depth, build diversity and RPG elements." Now available under the MIT license, it's another good look into how indie games get made and a good starting point for those looking to see a properly finished game.
