Converting music the easy way.
I recently had a task where I had to convert music from one format to another. To be more specific I needed to convert ogg vorbis format files to aac or m4a format files suitable for a mobile music playing device.
There were several proposed solutions available. Some of them were vlc and gstreamer which looked promising but on closer inspection of those programs they wouldn't work for what I wanted. They were also obtuse in their operation and from reading the mailing lists regarding those programs not all that successful. For their main task they were quite good but as a converter for music they just didn't cut the mustard.
I was not discouraged. I knew that there had to be an easy way to convert these music files so I forged on. Then I found it! The holy grail of music converters. A simple little program that will convert one format of music to another in a few simple clicks. Not just a song at a time either. It will do a whole directory as easily as it does one song.
