Thai government abandons Open Source, OLPC
THE JUNTA which took control of Thailand after a peaceful coup seems to be following Microsoft's roadmap to success.
Not only has the Junta abandoned the previous government's plan to shift to Open Sauce, it has also canned its involvement the 'one laptop per child' scheme, which has been roundly attacked by Microsoft.
Education Minister Wijit Srisa-arn said that the country could not afford a shift towards the free operating system and investments in technology hardware and infrastructure should proceed when basic education standards have been achieved and the state is financially ready.
