Novell unveils Suse for real-time applications
Novell today unveiled Suse Linux Enterprise Real Time, which is designed to provide a Linux platform for real-time applications.
The offering incorporates real-time technology from Concurrent Computer Corporation to the SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 platform. It supports 32-bit and 64-bit processor architectures (including AMD Opteron and Intel Xeon), predictable interrupt response time of less than 30 microseconds, high-resolution timer support for enhanced scheduling, user-level control of simultaneous multithreading, and processor shielding. The real-time technology is designed to eliminate spikes in latency and so ensure consistent performance and stability.
