Myah OS 2.3 Released
Myah OS 2.3 SE is now available for download. Multimedia and Gaming
has always been the focus, and 2.3 really brings that into focus.
Firefox 2.0rc2 has been jam packed with support for Flash, Java and
embedded video. But now embedded video is also available within
Konqueror. Settings for DVD playback has been optimized for best
possible playback. 3D drivers for ATI and nVidia has also been
optimized, both for ease of use and best performance.
Myah has also taken in some upgrades when it comes to themes. A fresh
Ksplash theme has been created to integrate with the Bootsplash theme.
Several more mouse themes are now available as well. Myah has always
had a fun look to it, including the new wallpaper. But the good looks
are overshadowed by it's performance. Myah is fast powerful and ready
for action.
Many changes have taken place since 2.2. For example KDE 3.5.4 is now
included as well as Linux 2.6.18. But many more changes have taken
place. The boot process is much faster and smoother. CUPS printing is
now up and running. The network interface is brought up similar to
standard Slackware so changes to the network in KDE will now take
affect. Myah also now does a file system check during boot up, coming
from a live CD this wasn't possible before. Boot options are much
simple to use, along with special video settings remembered after
install. The simple Myah OS installer has now grown into the ability
to install Lilo boot loader into partitions as well as the MBR. The
2.3 version also uses the higher compression of aufs + squashfs +
lzma. Because of this more applications and games were able to fit on
the same size disk.
Myah OS is designed to be a full system right out of the box. Myah
has all you need on 1 CD. Now I know all you need is not always all
you want. Linux is all about choices, right. Myah can also easily
expand using packages from Myah, Slackware or other Slackware 3rd
party sites. Included in Myah Is a small collection of simple games.
These are not meant to impress, they are just a taste of the real fun
you can have with Myah. Myah OS should work for most Intel/AMD
computers. But if you have any trouble at all, I personally will be
pleased to assist you to the best of my ability. Also the small Myah
user community can be very pleasant and helpful. But you can see for
yourself. Try Myah OS for 2 weeks full time and see if you are not
impressed with the project. And if you find anything that needs
improvement let me know.

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility. |
