Either shut up or do something about it.
Submitted by stmok on Thursday 20th of December 2007 12:23:14 PM Filed underThe web is filled with so many views and opinions about Linux, that its simply mindnumbing to even try to read it all. The time spent should be focused on actual coding and coming up with new, practical ideas that are of use to most people.

Annual Kaspersky Labs Fearmongering!
Submitted by stmok on Saturday 7th of April 2007 01:53:16 PMMerry Fearmongering!
Kaspersky Labs (maker of the infamous KAV for Windows), has started what I call their "annual fearmongering initiative".
It appears about this time of year, when they release their so-called "Look everyone! We found a proof of concept malware that does something nasty to *insert opensource solution name here*" press releases.

Red Hat Hires a Blind Software Engineer to Improve Accessibility on Linux DesktopAccessibility on a Linux desktop is not one of the strongest points to highlight. However, GNOME, one of the best desktop environments, has managed to do better comparatively (I think). In a blog post by Christian Fredrik Schaller (Director for Desktop/Graphics, Red Hat), he mentions that they are making serious efforts to improve accessibility. Starting with Red Hat hiring Lukas Tyrychtr, who is a blind software engineer to lead the effort in improving Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Fedora Workstation in terms of accessibility. |
